Crouching Digital Tigers Celebrate Chinese New Year - Sydney

The lanterns are 2.5 meters high and more than 7 meters long and they are lit by low-energy LED lights. As is fitting in soccer-mad Australia, the felines are not just idly posing, they are playing soccer in celebration of the FIFA soccer world cup. The tigers, commissioned by Customs House to raise awareness about the endangered status of tigers, were designed by Laboratory for Visionary Architecture (LAVA) with offices in Sydney and Stuttgart, Germany. - Bill Tikos

Kotori Headphones - Gadgets
.jpg)
If you cannot find a pair of headphones that visually meets your needs from Kotori’s more than 100 variations, you may have more serious problems than just the lack of cool audiowear.
However, if you just don’t like any of the suggested color combinations, you can easily design your own by selecting the color of each of the 10 components, or just hit shuffle and see what happens randomly.
With the technology of the Japanese Fostex, supplier of recording and speaker gear for professionals, Kotori headphones should meet your needs also in audio quality.
These headphones will likely add a few problems to your life, though: They are so cool that you will forever be telling everyone where you got them AND you will have to keep a close eye on your Kotoris as your design-hungry friends will want to borrow them.

Apparently, kotori means little bird, or lucky bird in Japanese, and screech owl spirit in native American Hopi language. Either way, you will want to flaunt these, even if you only played mute.
In the appealing Japanese style that it both cute and sleek in its rounded friendliness and minimalist functionality, Kotori headphones have a yummy sensibility that makes you want to choose several pairs at once. Each of the seven pre-set themes – pop, sweet, cool, vivid, natural, animal, and delicious – has 15 variations. Our current favorites are the Mikan in Vivid and the retro Woody in Natural. - Tuija Seipell

B.o.B. feat Asher Roth – F**k the Money (Produced by Kanye West)

One of the highlighted singles off B.o.B.’s latest mixtape is this record featuring himself and Asher Roth over some dope production by Kanyeezy. Entitled Fuck the Money, the track serves as a testament to some of the questionable practices of the music industry that surprise artists all too often. B.o.B’s May 25th Mixtape is titled after the date his debut album releases later this year. In the mean time check out the single below and download the full mixtape here by Davis Huynh

We Are The World Remake Brings Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Pink, Usher, More Together For Haiti
So yall know imma more focus on Kanye on this project, call me bias idc! ha
It's the 25th anniversary of the classic "We Are The World" and today's biggest and brightest musical stars gathered together last night to record the remake for Haiti relief. Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones assembled more than 80 singers, rappers, and actors for the remake including Kanye West, Usher, Justin Bieber, and Lil' Wayne. Classic artists like Barbara Streisand, Carlos Santana, and Tony Bennett were in attendance along with actors Vince Vaughn, Jeff Bridges, and the offspring of Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones: Nicole Richie and Rashida Jones. Will.I.Am. has a hip hop break written into the remake that makes reference to the January 12th earthquake in Haiti.
How different is the "We are the World" remake from the original version, which shined a light on famine in Africa 25 years ago?
Well, Lil Wayne is singing Bob Dylan's verse this time around and Justin Bieber is singing Lionel Richie's opening line. And as far as the sound goes, mtv.com said it has a "modern Southern hip-hop bounce to it."
As if that isn't confusing enough for your grandparents, the video is being shot in 3-D.
The remake has been in the works for a while but changed its focus last month after the earthquake in Haiti. "We Are The World - 25 for Haiti," recorded in a Hollywood studio on Monday (they wanted to take advantage of the star power in town for the Grammys), will now have a Haiti angle. All profits from the single will go to the earthquake victims.
The original song, which featured Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Ray Charles and Diana Ross, raised $63 million.

Apple iPad: All You Need To Know
Jobs Unveils "iPad"

The basic form factor was pretty much was most people were expecting. The iPad looks like a bigiPhone or iPod touch with a 9.7-inch LED-backlit LCD display. The screen is 1024 by 768, and it runs on a 1-GHz Apple A4 custom processor. It comes with 802.11n and optional 3G wireless support. More important, it comes with applications for mail, Web browsing, photos, videos, music, maps, and book reading. For more details, see PCMag's full coverage.
The big surprise in the announcement was the pricing. The basic unit, with Wi-Fi only and 16GB of flash memory, will sell for $499. While that may not be enough storage to hold all of your media library, it is enough for a lot of people, and as a result, it opens the iPad up to a much larger potential audience. There will also be a 32GB version for $599 and a 64GB one for $699. (In comparison, aniPod touch with a smaller screen, battery, and less capable processor and apps is $300 less.)
The wireless broadband plans were also a pleasant surprise. Versions of the iPad with 3G built in cost $130 more, bringing the cost of the most expensive version (with 64GB) up to $829 - which seems like a reasonable price for a 3G modem. But the good news is that the plans are far less expensive: $14.99 a month for up to 250MB of data and $29.99 for unlimited data via AT&T. This is far less than the price of most broadband access plans.
The iPad is able to run all of the same apps that theiPhone does. So, if you purchased apps, you can use them on the new device. That in itself will eliminate one of the biggest gripes users have about purchasing a new device.
Jobs made a point of saying that Apple already has 75 million people who know how to use the iPad because they own aniPhone or iPod Touch .
the Apple iPad. The screen is gorgeous, tilting is responsive, and the thing is super thin. Still, if you've used the iPhone before -- and you can see the two devices side-by-side here -- there's not a lot of surprises here so far. Here are some initial thoughts on the iPad:
* It's not light. It feels pretty weighty in your hand.
* The screen is stunning, and it's 1024 x 768. Feels just like a huge iPhone in your hands.
* The speed of the CPU is something to be marveled at. It is blazingly fast from what we can tell. Webpages loaded up super fast, and scrolling was without a hiccup. Moving into and out of apps was a breeze. Everything flew.
* There's no multitasking at all. It's a real disappointment. All this power and very little you can do with it at once. No multitasking means no streaming Pandora when you're working in Pages... you can figure it out. It's a real setback for this device.
* The ebook implementation is about as close as you can get to reading without a stack of bound paper in your hand. The visual stuff really helps flesh out the experience. It may be just for show, but it counts here.
* No camera. None, nada. Zip. No video conferencing here folks. Hell, it doesn't have an SMS app!
* It's running iPhone OS 3.2.
* The keyboard is good, not great. Not quite as responsive as it looked in the demos.
* No Flash confirmed. So Hulu is out for you, folks!

Ipad's Downfall
Multitasking
There's no multitasking in the OS at all, and not even multiple active web pages in Safari. You can't listen to Pandora while you surf the Web, or switch back and forth between Facebook at Twitter, or write a document in Pages while talking on a VOIP call.
Adobe Flash
For better or worse, it's just not the real Web without support for Adobe Flash. We want to watch Hulu on the iPad. It's sort-of okay on a small phone-sized device, but it's not okay on a 9.7 inch screen.
Camera / iChat
We don't expect people to hold up a big slate to take pictures with a back-facing camera, though some augmented reality apps might be neat on the larger screen. What the iPad is really lacking is a front-facing camera and video chat. A device like this would be perfect for such an application. With a front-facing camera, the iPad could be the perfect device for filming and editing personal YouTube videos (you could even see yourself in-frame as you record).
Better Video and HDMI
Video support is very similar to what you find on the iPhone and iPod Touch - limited to 720p H.264 Main Profile. There should be support for Advanced Profile video, and while we're at it, a mini HDMI port to push video to our HDTVs.
16:9 Aspect Ratio
The 4:3 aspect ratio is convenient for using iPhone apps in full screen mode, but it's less desirable for media. From YouTube videos to TV shows to movies, the world is rapidly shifting exclusively to widescreen formats, and those black bars are getting real old, real fast.
Wireless Sync
If your computer with my iTunes account associated with it is on my local network, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to sync your iPad over Wi-Fi. With the 802.11n networking, it would even be pretty fast. If Microsoft can do it with theZune , why can't Apple?
Handwriting Recognition
A soft keyboard is one thing, but it's still not good enough to touch-type on. On a tablet sized device, people sometimes just want to jot down a note or two. Sometimes, writing by hand is simply more convenient.
Funny Twist
Women mock the iPad, calling it iTampon
